Message from SLUH

The history of Loyola Academy is inextricably linked to St. Louis University High School, and the strong bonds between the two schools continue to strengthen both. The strongest bond between the two schools is their shared Catholic and Jesuit mission. Both schools are owned and operated by the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), and are infused with the spirituality of St. Ignatius. Young men at each school are challenged to become “men for others.” SLUH and Loyola seek to help their students develop their gifts for use in the service of Christ’s kingdom. They are challenged to develop their skills, not for their personal gain, but for the greater glory of God.

Loyola was founded under the leadership of Fr. Paul Sheridan, S.J. during his time as President of SLUH. Many members of the SLUH community serve among the volunteers, advisors, tutors, donors, and even staff members at Loyola Academy. Stephen and Judith Doss were SLUH parents when Loyola Academy began, and they were instrumental in its founding. The Craig Doss Loyola Scholarship is named in memory of their son, Craig, a member of the SLUH Class of ’00 who died in 2002. Classmates and friends of Craig have provided the leadership and support that has grown this fund to an endowment of over $50,000 since it was established in 2008.

The Craig Doss Loyola Scholarship is a vital link between SLUH and Loyola Academy. The financial aid this scholarship fund provides is the pathway for the young men of Loyola to achieve their dreams at SLUH. For these young men, the Jesuit education they receive at Loyola Academy and St. Louis University High School can serve as a springboard to success in their adult life. Thank you for your support of of the Craig Doss Loyola Scholarship Fund.
